4/19 John 10:29-30

29 "My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one."

If you have come to Jesus and know Him as your Savior, God has chosen you as a part of the body of believers that makes up the bride of Christ. You belong to Jesus like a husband and wife belong to one another. If a husband saw someone trying to take his wife away by force, he would go to any extent to stop that person. Jesus is telling us that God is all-powerful and will step in like a shepherd protecting his sheep and stop anyone from stealing you away from Jesus. You can rest secure that God will not let that happen. But that does not mean you don't need to make every effort to deepen your relationship with Jesus (2 Peter 1:5-8). His loving care and protection should cause you to want to know Him more intimately.

"Hear O Israel: the LORD our God, the LORD is one" (Deuteronomy 6:4 literal). The word for "one" was used in Genesis 2:24 of the union of husband and wife. When Jesus said He is one with the Father, He is declaring He is one in essence and yet a separate person. The Father, Spirit, and the Son have been in complete unity throughout eternity. Here is a great mystery. They desire for followers of Jesus to be transformed into His image and bring them into Their holy fellowship (Ephesians 5:32; Romans 8:29).

Heaven is much more than we can imagine (1 Corinthians 2:9). It begins with God completing His work in us. Though we will never be all that God is, He will purify us to live in uninterrupted communion with our God and Savior, Jesus. He keeps us for the future marriage feast of the Lamb and our eternal union with Him. If you are in Christ, your future is more wonderful than you could possibly conceive!

Consider: If this is God's plan for you, what power in heaven or on earth can stop Him from bringing it to pass?
